Prolific Spirit…

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Since I’ve returned from my holiday I’ve been feeling prolific.  All I want to do is write and create.  So far there isn’t much actual evidence of that as I’ve not ben home 24 hours yet and I’m still catching up on web stuff, but by Sunday evening I have to have created something, a picture, a website, a song, a recording, anything!!!.

I’m not going to make the mistake of trying too hard though, if this holiday has taught me anything it’s that I need to relax and let things flow.  That way I can be sure that whatever I do create will be real, not forced or affected.

Thats all for now…

Back on the horse…

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

It’s been a while since I really sat down and recorded anything, so today I made a concious effort to do so.

I didn’t really have any new material that I wanted to record and I didn’t want to go back over songs that I’ve already been over frustrated with, so I decided to record a cover song.

I started to think about what songs have really spoken to me recently, but were not already covered by everyone else, and Holding Back by Scott Andrew came to mind.

That song really spoke to me about a year or so ago when I was making some decisions about my life, and it also saved my behind at my first solo show when my set came up short.

Anyway, I went up into my attic studio, plugged everything in and recorded it, just acoustic guitar and vocals.  I didn’t spend too long on it so I don’t know if I’m going to let anyone hear it yet?  It was more of an ice-breaker kind of thing really.  If I get around to re-doing the vocals then some people might hear it?

So, now I’ve started up again and I want to continue so heres to some new music soon…
